Yannick Fornacciari : Capturing the Constant State of In-Betweenness
Yannick Fornacciari completed a Master in psychology before moving to Canada five years ago which clearly influenced his work. Through his photos, Fornacciari questions identity and captures both the strength and the vulnerability of his subjects.
The French photographer, now living in Montreal, is mostly known for his series Exposed, presenting the transitioning bodies of transgender people in a touching manner, but the idea of transformation and change is also explored in many different ways through his other projects. Whether by documenting his travels between France, United States and Canada or by exploring the idea of youth and new experiences, his pictures express a constant state of in-betweenness.
The images are part of the series F.R.E.E. and Dans la nuit where the photographer explores his own life instead of others'. Fornacciari's sensitive eye portrays the mad world in which we live; thus capturing a pre-apocalyptic atmosphere similar to one we could find in Araki’s movies.
