Flora Collection by Designer Marcin Rusak
Marcin Rusak's collection is created by encasing flowers in resin and then cutting blocks to reveal the flowers inside.
The project development led to two main techniques: flora perma and flora temporaria. The first, as one might expect is stable, and everlasting. The latter will evolve and transform visually over time, without losing structural integrity. Both avenues represent different viewpoints on the relationship between humans and the natural world.
In flora perma, decoration comes directly from nature itself. Flowers are ‘frozen’, then machined. The result is a highly complex, intricate beauty composed of spontaneous cross sections and petal curves. In contrast to the black resin they’re held in, they appear as veins or fossils, giving the objects a stone-line quality.
