Brutalist Silence — an Elevated Office Space in Berlin by Interior Designer & Stylist Annabell Kutucu
The Brutalist Silence project is a creative hub located in the newest of Berlin's community spaces, Marina Marina. Set on the waterfront of the Spree River, the elevated office space, designed and styled by Annabell Kutucu, is intended as a home for talented innovators and entrepreneurs.
Defined by its brutalist concrete walls — left exposed throughout and complete with scars and marks and paint from construction; a subtle nod to the ancient Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi — the smartly arranged office is laden with quiet design features.
Made up of a collection of rooms that open off a central spinal corridor, the warmth in the space comes from the furnishing choices and Kutucu's carefully refined styling. Many of the decorative pieces scattered about the place were sourced by Kutucu from her favorite Berlin antique stores — including many of the earthy ceramics — while details such as the sliding partition walls, the inset bookshelf, and the kitchen cabinetry, are made from smoked oak wood.
